Sabrina Ong

Forensic Psychologist

Sabrina has been registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Psychologist since 2010 and holds endorsement in Forensic Psychology. She completed her Bachelor’s in Psychology degree with honours at the Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and her Master of Forensic Psychology degree at Bond University.

After graduating, she became a Senior Research Assistant for three years and published research articles, book chapters and other publications in the areas of vocational rehabilitation, return to work, cultural linguistics, offending behaviours, and fitness to stand trial. She also conducted family violence assessment for the Department of Immigrations and Border Protection for two years.

In private practice, Sabrina works with children, adolescents and adults to cope with various mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, anger, substance use, trauma, grief, self-esteem, cultural adjustment, and marital issues. She is fluent in English, Mandarin and Hokkein, and is a NAATI accredited Paraprofessional interpreter (English-Mandarin). She utilizes CBT, ACT, DBT, EMDR, Schema Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Therapy approaches.

Sabrina has a special interest in the treatment of trauma/PTSD and has been actively furthering her training and knowledge base in this area. In particular, she has been developing her skills in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy through the EMDR institute and is in the process of becoming an accredited practitioner with EMDRAA. She is also currently doing a Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) to become an accredited FDR practitioner, that will allow her to help people going through separation or divorce to resolve family disputes.
